Lucky Number 16

Day two of our adventure offered all the thrills and spills of day one, with the added bonus of an inflated wallet thanks to the Sands Casino. After a delicious feed down at Fisherman's Wharf (Macau's attempt at a theme park... kind of strange, but nice nevertheless), we paid a visit to the nearest casino which just so happened to be one of the best ones around. Alright, I'll reserve judgment until we visit the Venetian tonight, but a casino with dancers (read: strippers who don't take their clothes off, but aren't wearing many in the first place) on the main bar is A-OK with me.

A healthy bet on lucky number 16 on the roulette wheel and a quick cash-in and dash-out later, we were pumped to sleep off the day's excitement and grab day two by the horns.

A short walk down the street from the hotel brought us to a gondola which takes us to the top of Mt Guia. Not that it's a particularly high "mountain", but for the AUD50c each it cost us, I ain't walkin'.

The top was basically a park area filled with a healthy combination of old trees, green grass, crazy people going for jogs and a lot more people doing tai chi. There's also a lighthouse.

Setting out to find the local "Red Market", we wandered via a pretty ace garden which just so happened to have a pond with turtles and a bonsai show. Neat!

Anyway, this red market, is basically the local fresh produce markets. Lots of gross smelling seafood (yes mum, heaps of crabs and other funky stuff) still alive sitting in trays containing no more than an inch of water. Weird. Then, all the other usual stuff like cooked and raw meat and minimal health regulations.

More wandering and a short taxi ride took us back to fisherman's wharf where I was hoping to take up Simon's double cheeseburger, fries and chocolate shake challenge. Simon, Al's Diner is totally closed. Lame. I'd do it easy, anyway.

Now, it's free beer and food in the hotel lobby (yep, free) and writing blogs. Enjoy work, suckers.
